US defense chief admits links among PYD, YPG, PKK
The U.S. defense chief admitted on April 28 that the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its militia force, the People's Protection Units (YPG), were linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
During testimony before a Senate panel, Ashton Carter said "yes" when asked by Sen. Lindsey Graham whether the PYD and YPG were aligned with the PKK.

China lands first military plane on disputed reef: state media
Beijing landed a military plane on a disputed South China Sea reef it has built up into an artificial island, officials said on April 18, in the first confirmation of such a flight.
An air force plane landed on Fiery Cross reef in the Spratlys archipelago on April 17 to evacuate sick workers, a news report posted online by China's defence ministry said.
