Multinational companies including Amazon, Marriott and Hilton pledged yesterday to hire more than 13,000 refugees, including Ukrainian women who have fled the war with Russia, over the next three years in Europe.

United States based Chobani CEO Hamdi Ulukaya was married with Food Dreams Foundation president Louise Vongerichten, at the Turkish Consulate General in New York with a simple ceremony on Jan. 28

The founder and CEO of Chobani has no regrets about moving his yogurt company to south-central Idaho, a region embroiled in the national debate over refugee resettlement that spread to company boycotts by far-right bloggers and conspiracy theorists.

Hamdi Ulukaya, the Turkey-born founding owner of leading U.S. yogurt maker Chobani, has been facing threats and a smear campaign from the far right for employing migrants, prompting anti-racist activists to launch a counter campaign. 

The 2,000 full-time employees of Chobani were handed an ownership stake in the yogurt company that could make some of them millionaires, as reported by New York Times on April 26.

If you asked who one of the heroes at this year's World Economic Forum in Davos was, I would say Hamdi Ulukaya, who was able to make the yogurt brand "Chobani," which he founded in the U.S. in 2007 and became the fastest growing company in history.

U.S. soda giants Coca-Cola and PepsiCo are among the companies competing for a minority stake in yogurt maker Chobani, a person familiar with the process said on Oct. 13.

In addition to donating a large portion of his personal wealth to the current migrant crisis, the Turkey-born founder of American yogurt company Chobani has stated his intention to hire refugees to help change their lives and their future. 

Leading figures in the world of healthy snack foods came together in Antalya at the 34th World Nut and Dried Fruit Congress on May 22-24. Around 1,000 food professionals from 61 countries, including Coca-Cola CEO Muhtar Kent and Chobani CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, discussed the indispensable role of nut products and dried fruits in healthier diets across the world.
