Legendary French fashion designer Pierre Cardin has died at the age of 98.

Cardin was credited with helping revolutionize fashion with his futuristic designs in the 1960s and 70s.

He was also a pioneer in business, licensing his name to be used on a range of products such as sunglasses.

He died in hospital in Neuilly, near Paris, his family told the AFP news agency.

As part of the Francophone Film Festival, which this year celebrates fashion and luxury, the French Institute will be screening "Christian Dior, l'elegance du paradis perdu," with Greek and English subtitles.

French fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy, who created famous looks for Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy, has died at the age of 91.

His partner Philippe Venet, a former haute couture designer, confirmed the news to the AFP news agency.

"It is with huge sadness that we inform you that Hubert Taffin de Givenchy has died," he said via the fashion house.

More than 700,000 people flocked to a record-breaking Paris exhibition dedicated to the Christian Dior French fashion house, its organizers said on Jan. 8.

L'Oreal said on Thursday it would appeal a 2.6 million euro ($3 million) fine imposed by Greece's competition authority, which ruled that the French cosmetics company and several of its rivals were fixing prices.

A host of French-owned fashion labels spanning Christian Dior to Saint Laurent pledged on Sept. 6 to ban ultra-thin models from their advertising and catwalk shows following repeated scandals about anorexia and mistreatment.
