Ivica Dacic told TV Pink that he would not do that because he would not like to jeopardize the possibility of the incumbent president, Aleksandar Vui, winning in the first round of elections.

The foreign minister and first deputy PM spoke for TV Pink on Wednesday and did not rule out the possibility that those incidents would be caused by "those with clouded minds" who want to conquer the north of Kosovo (predominantly inhabited by Serbs).

"The pressure (in favor of this outcome) is extremely powerful and strong with the backing of Western and Islamic countries," the minister told Tanjug.

This is according to Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti.

It writes on Friday that Dacic pointed out to the British ambassador in Belgrade that Serbia would not view it favorably if his country in August, when it will preside over the UN Security Council, puts the issue of holding fewer, or abandoning altogether the public sessions on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija on the agenda.

According to a press release, Dacic and Wickremesinghe "expressed readiness to intensify bilateral political dialogue at the high and highest level, as well as to enhance cooperation in all areas."

Dacic also stressed that Belgrade will respond in kind if Zagreb decides to withdraw its ambassador.

In his address, Dacic invited Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic to travel to Jasenovac and bow before the victims.

Jasenovac was a death camp set up by the Ustasha regime of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) - a wartime Nazi-allied entity - and a place of mass murder of Serbs, Jews, and Roma.
