Lion cub Simba born in Singapore via artificial insemination
The Singapore Zoo has welcomed a lion cub named Simba to its animal kingdom following artificial insemination that officials said on Jan. 26 was a first for the city-state.
It is rare for lions to be conceived through artificial insemination, with the procedure first carried out successfully in 2018 - resulting in two cubs in South Africa.
'Wonder Woman 1984' adds $5.5 million in 2nd US weekend
In its second weekend in U.S. theaters, "Wonder Woman 1984" earned an estimated $5.5 million in ticket sales according to studio estimates on Jan. 3. It's a 67% drop for the superhero sequel, which is simultaneously playing on 2,151 screens and streaming free for HBO Max subscribers.

Actors and Disney World reach deal after virus testing fight
Walt Disney World and the union for its actors and singers reached an agreement on Aug. 12 that will allow them to return to work, more than a month after they said they were locked out of the reopening of the theme park resort for publicly demanding coronavirus tests.
Peak aims high after $1.8 bln acquisition
The young and discreet founder and employees of Turkish gaming company Peak are aiming high after its acquisition by U.S. giant Zynga for $1.8 billion.
The Zynga-Peak deal announced on June 1 resembles that of between Pixar and Disney in 2006, according to the Turkish company's strategy director.

Waititi to direct new 'Star Wars' film
New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi will write and direct a new "Star Wars" film, Disney announced on May 4.
Waititi has shot from indie acclaim to mainstream Hollywood success in recent years, overseeing Marvel superhero smash hit "Thor: Ragnarok" in 2017 before winning a screenplay Oscar for Nazi satire "Jojo Rabbit" in February.
