Four killed, 10 injured as van overturns in Erzincan

A tragic accident has claimed the lives of four individuals and left 10 others injured as a minibus carrying families returning from a wedding overturned in the eastern province of Erzincan.

The incident occurred early on July 9 at the Sakaltutan pass on the highway between Erzincan and the nearby province of Sivas.

Angelo Palego, who had a heart attack in Ağrı at the beginning of August, was taken to the state hospital in Erzurum, a neighboring province.

Magnitude 5.7 quake hits Turkey's east

A magnitude 5.7 earthquake jolted eastern Turkey on June 14, according to the country's disaster agency.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the quake struck Turkey's eastern Bingöl province's Karlıova district at 5.24 p.m. local time (1524GMT). An aftershock with a magnitude of 4.7 was recorded in the same region, according to data provided by AFAD.

Winter wonderland in Turkey's east attracts 1.3 mln tourists

Erzurum, a winter wonderland in eastern Turkey, hosted more than 1.3 million tourists last year, provincial authorities said on Feb. 13.

The province achieved its million-tourist target set last year with its historical sites, hot springs, and ski resorts.
