Three Cyclades islands - Sifnos, Serifos, and Folegandros - have been named among Europe's seven most endangered heritage sites for 2024, as announced this week.

The wooden church in Ursi village, Popesti commune - Valcea County, was designated among the winners of the European Heritage Awards, in the Conservation category. "The European Commission and Europa Nostra have just announced the 2021 winners of the European Heritage Awards/Europa Nostra Awards, the EU prize for cultural heritage funded by the Creative Europe programme.

The doors of Bulgaria's iconic Buzludzha monument have been opened for the first time in eight years as preparations get underway to restore the communist-era landmark.

A group of journalists were allowed to enter the saucer-shaped building, which was built in 1981 by Bulgarian communists as a tribute to the creation of the Bulgarian socialist movement.

An Albanian archaeological site and post-Byzantine churches, Bulgaria's UFO-like communist monument and an abandoned casino in the Romanian city of Constanta have been selected among the 12 finalists for the pan-European "7 Most Endangered Programme 2018".

The winners of the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage/Europa Nostra Awards 2015 were celebrated during a high-profile event at Oslo City Hall on June 11. 

The Armenian Church of Surp Giragos in Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakir received the award in the conservation category. 

BELGRADE - Experts from leading European cultural heritage and financial organisations and officials of Europa Nostra and the European Investment Bank have discussed with Serbia's leading conservation specialists the restoration of the Subotica synagogue, named one of Europe's seven most endangered monuments in 2014.

“Being on the list of 'The 7 Most Endangered' opens a window of opportunity to rescue the sites but also means increased responsibility for national stakeholders,” the President of Europa Nostra and acting Dean of the European Investment Bank Institute, EIB-I, jointly said on May 4, presenting the list in Vienna, Austia.
