Doundounaki becomes European champion at 50m butterfly
Greek swimming champion Anna Doundounaki has made history as on Sunday she became a champion in the 25-meter-pool Europeans.
The 28-year-old won the gold medal at the 50 meters butterfly in Otopeni, Romania, finishing joint first with a time of 25.10 seconds, one day after winning bronze in the 100 meters butterfly at the same competition.
Turkish wrestler becomes world champion for 12th time
Turkish wrestler Rıza Kayaalp became European Champion for the 12th time on April 22 in the Greco-Roman style 130 kg category at the 2023 European Wrestling Championship in Croatia.
Kayaalp defeated Sabah Saleh Shariati from Azerbaijan with a 2-1 result to win the gold medal in Zagreb.
Bulgaria: World Champion in Weightlifting is Angel Rusev
Angel Rusev (55 kg) is a world champion in weightlifting. He won the gold in the ejection with 144 kg. After 110 kg in the throw, the Bulgarian finished third in the match. The champion with 260 kg became the Kazakh Arli Shontay.
This is the biggest success of Rusev's career, which took place at the world championship in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
Svetislav Pesic, new coach of Serbia!
Pesic will lead our national team already in the November qualifications for the 2023 World Cup, when Serbia will meet Latvia on November 25, while three days later it will visit Belgium.

Legendary Serbian Basketball Coach Duda Ivkovic Dies At 77
One of Serbia's top basketball coaches, Dusan Duda Ivkovic, has passed away aged 77, the president of Radnicki Belgrade BC Goran Kalinic told Sport Klub TV on Thursday.
Fans and colleagues across Europe have all expressed their sadness and appreciation for Ivkovic's life work.
Rest in Peace, Duda! 🙏
OG 2020 - Romania's women coxless pair takes 3rd place in Final B
AGERPRES special correspondent, Teodor Ciobanu, reports: Romanian rowers Adriana Ailincai and Iuliana Buhus have taken third place in Final B of the women's coxless pair event which took place, on Thursday, during the Tokyo Olympic Games, as well as 9th place overall in the event. In Final B, taking place on Thursday at the Sea Forest Waterway, Romania finished the race in 7 min 01 sec 02/100.
Turkish wrestler Taha Akgül wins European championship
Olympic champion Turkish wrestler Taha Akgül on April 22 won gold in the 2021 European Championships in Warsaw.
Akgul secured his eighth European title as the 30-year-old beat his Russian opponent Sergei Kozyrev via disqualification (9-2) in men's freestyle 125-kg gold medal match.
He previously won gold in the 2016 Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro.
Two gold, three silver, six bronze medals for Romanian boxers at Balkan Championships 2019
Steluta Duta (48 kg) and Maria Nechita (57 kg) are the winners of the gold medals of the Balkan Boxing Championships 2019 of Antalya, Turkey, while Eszter Torok (54 kg), Georgiana Mogos (+81 kg) and Gabriel Schiopu (52 kg) grabbed the silver medals.
The end of silver era
After six years, three silver medals, lots of joy and several disappointments, his era as Serbia's national team coach had ended.
He took over our national team when we far away from the top of European basketball, but he hadn't managed to crown his mandate with gold medal.

Petrounias does his magic again
Greek Olympic athlete and world champion Lefteris Petrounias won his fourth consecutive European gold in gymnastics on the rings at the European Championships 2018 in Glasgow.
