Bulgarian Health Minister Kostadin Angelov announced this week that the country's roll-out of the AstraZeneca vaccine may be discontinued due to lack of interest.

Recently between 100 and 200 doses per day of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered throughout the country.

Bulgaria's Minister of Health, Prof. Kostadin Angelov, on April 7, convened an extraordinary meeting of the National Vaccination Headquarters in connection with the information provided by the European Medicines Agency regarding the Oxford vaccine.

The coordinator of the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign, Valeriu Gheorghita, said on Wednesday that the combination of two or more vaccines is not recommended, referring to the fact that there is a reluctance of people who received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine to continue the immunization schedule with the same serum.

After a similar decision was made by Greece in recent days, all travelers who have been vaccinated with two doses of vaccines against Covid 19, regardless of whether the vaccines have been approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), as of tomorrow will be able to cross the Croatian border.

The European Union officials presented what the Covid passports, which will be in use from June 15, will look like. The passport will initially be valid for citizens of the European Union. Third countries, including Serbia, will soon be able to issue similar travel documents.

"The vaccination site at St. Joanna - ISUL University Hospital will be open from today between 14-17 hours and on March 27th and 28th March 2021 from 8:30 to 16.30. The available vaccine is AstraZeneca. No advance appointment is required," the hospital's  press office reported.

Things had all seemed so different a year ago.

President Klaus Iohannis said on Wednesday that a national quarantine is not desired and called for compliance with the restrictions and for the speeding up of the vaccination campaign. "Decisions are made nationwide and we do not want national quarantine for Romania, because it does not solve the problem and situations differ in each area.
