Municipalities being run by the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) will continue to deliver aid to families in need due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak despite the blocks imposed by the government, the head of the party said, calling on the government to coordinate efforts for the sake of society during these difficult days.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan has announced he will launch his party at a meeting on March 11 in the Turkish capital Ankara, months after he resigned from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).

An application for the establishment of the party was submitted to the Interior Ministry on March 9.

A Turkish prosecutor has launched an investigation into journalist Fatih Portakal for "provoking people to commit a crime," days after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan blasted the Fox TV anchor by claiming that he "invited people to the streets," like the Yellow Vests in France.

Turkish Journalists Association (TGC) has slammed Radio and Television Supreme Council's (RTÜK) decision to fine FOX TV, Halk TV, and Tele1, saying the ruling "is a direct intervention to the profession of journalism and is against the Constitution."

Turkey's FOX TV anchor Fatih Portakal has testified after a prosecutor in Istanbul launched an investigation into whether he insulted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan through his tweets. 

The popular anchorman of FOX TV’s primetime news, Fatih Portakal, has said he recently received a death threat.

Meral Akşener, a former Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) lawmaker who later became a dissident, will stand as a presidential candidate for the 2019 elections from a party she is set to establish in October, former MHP lawmaker Koray Aydın has announced. 

The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) will not allow "provocations" to derail its "justice march" from Ankara to Istanbul, CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said on June 21 on the seventh day of the march.

"We have completed 100 kilometers so far. Were there any windows broken or was traffic hindered? No," Kılıçdaroğlu told private broadcaster Fox TV on June 21.

A video showing a hospital employee belly dancing in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Istanbul has caused consternation in Turkey, Turkish broadcaster Fox TV has reported.

The footage, which shows the hospital worker dancing while tending to a patient, emerged on March 28.

The hospital worker is also seen dangling his surgical gloves while dancing.
