J.K. Rowling responds to Fenerbahçe basketball player over his Harry Potter 'lightning scar'

Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling has responded to Fenerbahçe's Italian forward Gigi Datome after he posted a tweet about a scar on his forehead reminiscent of Harry Potter's infamous "lightning scar."

Datome was injured during a game between Galatasaray Odeabank-Fenerbahçe on March 14, with social media users immediately likening it to the scar of the fictional character.

Udoh, Vesely lead Fenerbahçe to third Eurolegue victory

Istanbul club Fenerbahçe remained undefeated in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague and joined CSKA Moscow atop the standings by downing Zalgiris Kaunas 82-68 at home on Oct. 26. 

Ekpe Udoh and Jan Vesely led the winning side with 14 points apiece. Udoh added eight rebounds while Vesely made eight of eight free throws. 

Galatasaray Odeabank to play in Eurocup final

Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul will play for its first continental trophy after surviving overtime to knock out last season's runner-up, Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas, on April 6 in the Canary Islands. 

Gran Canaria won the game 94-81 but lost the series by a single point on aggregate, as Galatasaray had won 75-89 a week earlier in the series opener. 

Turkish women hope for medal at EuroBasket

The Turkish national women's basketball team is hoping for a medal, gold if possible, at the 2015 European Championships in Hungary. Two games this weekend will be crucial for whether the team can take the first step and advance from its group.

Having beaten Poland in its opening game on June 11, Turkey takes on Belarus on June 13 and Greece on June 14 in Group B.
