State-run lenders post $2.1 bln net profit in 2020
Three major conventional state-run banks in Turkey - Ziraat, VakıfBank, and Halkbank - posted 15.43 billion Turkish liras ($2.1 billion) in net profit last year.
The banks' net profit rose from around 10.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.8 billion) in the previous year, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency from unconsolidated balance sheets and the country's banking watchdog.

Turkey Promises €14.3 Billion Economic Support amid Pandemic
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday announced an economic package worth 100 billion liras (14.3 billion euros) to tackle the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on the Turkish economy.
Erdogan said that the Turkish government will do everything it can to protect the country's economy and businesses.

Moody's revises outlook of 14 Turkish banks to negative
Moody's Investors Service has taken rating actions on 17 Turkish banks, changing the ratings outlook from stable to negative on 14 of the lenders.
The ratings of one additional bank were also downgraded with a negative outlook, while the ratings of two other banks were affirmed with outlooks unchanged.
Turkey's Halkbank shares fall after US detains businessman
Shares in Turkey's Halkbank fell 5 percent on March 22 following the arrest in the United States of a Turkish businessman on charges of conspiring to evade U.S. sanctions on Iran, traders said.
The Iranian-born businessman, Reza Zarrab, was charged in an indictment filed in a federal court in Manhattan, U.S. prosecutors said on March 21.
Turkey launches Ziraat Bank's Islamic branch
Turkey?s largest state-owned bank, Ziraat Bank, has launched its first branch for Islamic finance in Istanbul.
?This is a historic step. Other state-owned banks should follow Ziraat?s move,? President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an said on May 29 during the opening ceremony in the Eminönü neighborhood, referring to Vakifbank and Halk Bank.
