The UN has accused Russia of actions in Ukraine that are - quote - "equivalent to war crimes". This was announced by the High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, quoted by Reuters.

Geneva – Slovenia, in its capacity as the presiding country of the Council of the EU, requested a special session of the UN Human Rights Council on the situation in Ethiopia on Monday. More than 50 countries supported the call, Slovenia’s Permanent Mission to the UN Office in Geneva announced on Twitter.

This came after her warning about deteriorating media freedom in Slovenia. The organisations agree with her assessment of the situation.

This comes after Mijatović recently warned about the deterioration of media freedom and freedom of expression in Slovenia.

Strasbourg – Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović urged the Slovenian authorities in a memorandum published on Friday to put a stop to the deterioration of the situation regarding media freedom and freedom of expression in the country.

Ljubljana – Culture Minister Vasko Simoniti held an online talk with Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović on Wednesday to discuss media freedom and the freedom of expression, the Culture Ministry said. The pair also discussed the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) and proposed changes to the media legislation.

Bulgaria participated in the sitting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council that took place here on Tuesday. This country was represented by Ambassador Dimiter Tzantchev, Bulgaria's permanent representative to the EU.
