Eni, Total join for another gas search license off Cyprus
Cyprus' energy minister says a consortium composed of energy companies Total of France and Eni of Italy has been licensed to explore for natural gas deposits in another area off Cyprus' southern coast.
Georgios Lakkotrypis says the two companies have an equal share in a new block into which a gas deposit that Eni discovered in an adjacent block last year is believed to extend.

Tensions are expected to heighten again in the Eastern Mediterranean after Turkey issued another navigational telex (Navtex) Wednesday reserving areas within Cyprus' exclusive economic zone (EEZ) for renewed exploratory activities by its Barbaros seismic vessel.

Greek Cypriot side launches new round of gas exploration
Greek Cyprus has launched a third licensing round for offshore oil and gas drilling off the Mediterranean island's southern coast.
"The decision to launch this licensing round was based on the huge interest by international companies to carry out explorations offshore Cyprus despite the energy industry's not so favorable conditions," said government spokesman Nicos Christodoulides.
Anastasiades says no talks while Turkish ships mount a challenge on gas
Cyprus's president vowed on Monday to stay away from peace talks with Turkey as long as Turkish ships remained off the island, threatening its right to explore for natural gas offshore.
Turkey dispatched a research vessel to the south of the island late last year while companies commissioned by the internationally recognised government explored offshore.
