Prosecutor proposes indictment of 11 people in connection with arms procurement kickbacks
Appeals court prosecutor Pantelis Stragalis on Wednesday proposed the indictment of 11 people in connection with kickbacks allegedly pocketed from the acquisition of self-propelled howitzers manufactured by German firm Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW).
Germany defends export of tanks to Qatar
Germany defended on Oct. 23 a decision to allow the export of tanks and artillery to Qatar, saying it was confident the arms would not be used in a war in Yemen between government supporters and the Iran-allied Houthis.
The newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported on Oct. 23 that four German Leopard 2 tanks and three howitzers had recently been shipped from Germany, bound for Qatar.

Swiss-French banker remanded over Siemens kickbacks scandal
A Swiss-French banker alleged to be a key figure in the Siemens cash-for-contracts scandal and implicated in corrupt arms deals is to spend Easter in Greek custody after testifying before an investigating magistrate.
The 55-year-old, identified in the media as Jean-Claude Oswald, was extradited to Greece earlier last week following his arrest in Abu Dhabi.
