The French press headlines and media comments highlight the disastrous failure of French President Emmanuel Macron, whose decision to call early elections backfired, resulting in a victory for Marine Le Pen‘s party, National Rally, in the first round.

French news organizations have urged Turkish authorities to release a Frenchreporter detained on Nov. 11 in the southeastern province of Gaziantep.

Olivier Bertrand was "detained without reason" during a reporting trip to the area, Isabelle Roberts of online media Les Jours told Agence France-Presse. "We demand his immediate release.... We are very worried, we are waiting for news."

Greece?s new finance minister Euclid Tsakalotos is as discreet and tight-lipped as his predecessor Yanis Varoufakis was flamboyant and confrontational.
