Ljubljana Film Festival back in full splendour or nearly there
The Ljubljana International Film Festival (LIFFe) will delight film lovers for the 33rd time between 9 and 20 November, this time with 90 feature-length and some 30 short films.
Iranian film Hit the Road wins main award at Ljubljana film fest
Ljubljana – Hit the Road, a chaotic family road trip movie by Iranian director Panah Panahi, is the winner of the Kingfisher Award, the main award handed out at the Ljubljana International Film Festival (LIFFE).
Panahi’s debut feature is a multi-layered portrait of an Iranian family and Iranian society at large set in a road trip through north-western Iran.
LIFFe adapting programme to new Covid rules
Ljubljana – The new Covid restrictions that are coming into effect on Monday will affect the Ljubljana International Film Festival (LIFFe), which is due to kick off on Wednesday. Seating capacity is being halved and additional screenings are being added for the projections that have been sold out.

Virtual film festival LIFFe proves successful
Ljubljana – The 31st Ljubljana International Film Festival (LIFFe) has attracted numerous film buffs although it was held online this year due to anti-corona restrictions, the organisers said. A quarter of tickets were sold compared to previous years, but the 2020 programme was also heavily reduced, the festival’s director Simon Popek told the STA.

Ljubljana film fest turning 30, staying focused on quality art film
LIFFe, a hugely popular festival that has also spread to Maribor, Celje and Novo Mesto, began in 1990 at Ljubljana's Cankarjev Dom arts centre as what was known as the international days of author film or Film Art Fest. There were 13 films screened the first year and some 4,000 visitors.
