Garnbret makes Forbes list of most influential young athletes

Slovenian sport climber Janja Garnbret has made it to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in sports and games in Europe, placing alongside athletes such as NBA star Nikola Jokić, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Formula One driver George Russel.

The magazine notes that Garnbret, 24, is the first Olympic gold medallist in sport climbing and that she has won six World Championships.

Celtics edge Lakers amid controversy

The Boston Celtics edged the Los Angeles Lakers 125-121 in an overtime battle tinged by controversy on Jan. 28 as Philadelphia 76ers big-man Joel Embiid out-dueled Denver's Nikola Jokic as NBA rivalries took center stage.

Depleted Celtics edge Raptors

The Boston Celtics shook off the absence of injured Jayson Tatum and the early exits of Marcus Smart and Robert Williams to beat the Toronto Raptors 106-104 on Jan. 21 and push their NBA winning streak to nine games.

Jaylen Brown scored 27 points and Grant Williams added a career-high 25 for the Celtics, who improved their league-best record to 35-12.

Warriors rout Spurs in front of record NBA crowd

The Golden State Warriors were the stars of the party in San Antonio on Jan. 13, cruising to a 144-113 victory over the Spurs before an NBA record crowd of 68,323 at the Alamodome.

Jordan Poole led the defending champion Warriors with 25 points off the bench, and Donte DiVincenzo added 22 as Golden State's reserves came up big.

Dončić to keep boosting Slovenia as tourism brand

NBA superstar Luka Dončić will continue to work with the Slovenian Tourist Board (STO) on promoting Slovenia as a tourism destination this year. The cooperation is valued at €100,000.

"Top athletes are excellent ambassadors of our country and of the I feel Slovenia brand," the STO said in announcing cooperation with several Slovenian athletes this year.
