9 Arrested for human trafficking: Women deceived and then blackmailed

The Subdivision for Combating Human Trafficking dismantled a criminal organization involved in trafficking foreign women for sexual exploitation. Nine members, including the leader, were arrested during a coordinated police operation. This effort was supported by the Greek Police’s Special Operations Unit (OPKE), specialized NGOs “OUR GREECE” and “A21,” and labor inspection officials.

Erjavec announces motion of no confidence in govt by year’s end

Ljubljana – After meeting representatives of the informal KUL coalition on Tuesday, Pensioners’ Party (DeSUS) leader Karl Erjavec announced that a motion for a constructive vote of no-confidence in the government would be filed next week or by the end of the year. He expects that the required 46 MP votes will have been secured by then.

Slovenian govt, NGOs welcome bolder EU greenhouse gas emissions goal

Ljubljana – The government and environmental NGO have welcomed the EU summit’s decision to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 by at least 55%. The Environment Ministry believes the goal is realistic, whereas the NGOs would like it even more ambitious. A climatologist meanwhile says that for a true global impact, the EU should get China and the US on board.

Turkey to build 10,000 residences in Elazığ district

Turkey readies itself to accelerate urban transformation projects as some 10,000 residences for a satellite city will be constructed in the quake-hit eastern Elazığ province's Yemişlik district.

The magnitude 6.8 quake of Jan. 24 caused 37 deaths in Elazığ province, about 550 km (340 miles) east of Ankara, and four in neighboring Malatya.

Bulgaria Confirms Support for NATO, EUFOR in Bosnia-Herzegovina

At Butmir base, Sarajevo, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva has assured the commanders of the NATO headquarters and of the EU Althea military operation that their mission is of key importance for the stability of Europe and as such it can rely on support from Bulgaria, reported BGNES.

Bulgaria has been taking part in EUFOR's Althea since its start in 2012.
