Overall auto sales market, including light trucks, hit a new record with nearly one million in sales in 2016, according to a latest release by the Automotive Distributors Association (ODD) on Jan. 6, as reported by state-run Anadolu Agency. 

Tüpraş, OMV Petrol Ofisi and Turkish Airlines have been named Turkey's largest companies by a leading economy and business magazine. 

The results of the Top 500 Private Company Survey of Turkey, organized by Capital Magazine in Vodafone's main sponsorship, were announced in a ceremony held in Istanbul late on Dec. 14, Anadolu Agency reported.

Total automotive production in Turkey rose 8 percent year-on-year in the first 11 months of 2016, according to a monthly Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) report released on Dec. 14.

Volkswagen on Nov. 27 signed a deal with its Algerian sales partner Sovac for the construction of a vehicle assembly plant in the North African country, officials told a news conference.

Oyak Renault, the Turkish enterprise of French car maker Renault, has announced that it will produce its new Megane Sedan model in Turkey. 

The company will invest 200 million euros in the production, Oyak Renault General Manager Tunç Başeğmez said at a Sept. 7 event in Bursa, the heart of car-manufacturing in Turkey. 

Renault executive Nicolas Maure, who heads Romanian carmaker Dacia, will take over as CEO of struggling Russian automobile giant Avtovaz next month, the owners said in a statement March 15.
