Ford cuts electric pickup prices as competion heats up
The sticker prices for Ford's F-150 Lightning electric pickup trucks are being lowered by thousands of dollars across the board, the company has said, due to increased plant capacity, falling costs for battery raw materials and internal efforts to scale production by the Detroit automaker.
Tesla sells record 1.3 million vehicles last year
Tesla sold a record 1.3 million vehicles last year, but the number fell short of CEO Elon Musk's pledge to grow the company's sales by 50 percent nearly every year.
The 2022 figure topped the prior record of 936,000 vehicles delivered in 2021, but it was shy of the 1.4 million needed to reach the company's 50 percent growth target.

Amazon holiday quarter profit doubles
Amazon has reported its profit doubled to $14 billion in the crucial holiday quarter, giving a boost to jittery markets that expected less due to higher labor, sourcing and delivery costs.
The e-commerce colossus said its net sales climbed to $137 billion, and its profit benefited greatly from a return on investment in electric vehicle maker Rivian, which went public in November.
