Turks ponder Varosha plan of $10 billion
Turkish newspaper Sozcu has drawn attention to Varosha, an abandoned area in Famagusta, calling it the "Las Vegas of the Mediterranean." The paper says it would take $10 billion to bring the ghost town back to life after being abandoned for 50 years.

Turkish unmanned aircraft overfly Kinaros
A Turkish UAV that entered the Athens FIR without filing a flight plan, violated national airspace and then flew over Kinaros at 19,000 feet at 15:05.
The Turkish UAV was identified and intercepted in accordance with international rules as a matter of routine.

Turkey Gives Foreign Media Short Deadline to Obtain Licence

If media outlets of Voice of America, VOA, Euronews and Deutsche Welle, DW, do not apply for a national licence, their websites will be blocked in Turkey, Ilhan Tasci, a board member at RTUK from the main opposition Republican People's Party, warned on Wednesday.

The daily newspaper Sozcu reported Aug. 9 that a new intelligence service has come into existence under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Sozcu’s Aug. 10 issue was dominated by the story, aptly headlined “Shocking, Documented Allegation.”

The owner of daily newspaper Sözcü, Burak Akbay, its website manager Mediha Olgun, and its İzmir correspondent Gökmen Ulu are all accused of "aiding a terror organization while not being a member of it." Olgun and Ulu have been behind bars since May 26 over alleged support of what prosecutors call the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), while Akbay is currently abroad.

Two lawyers for the opposition Turkish daily newspaper Sözcü on June 2 appealed to a higher court over the arrest of two journalists as part of the investigation into the July 2016 failed coup attempt, Doğan News Agency has reported.
