Airports serve 118 million passengers in eight months
Passenger traffic at Türkiye's airports increased by 57 percent in the first eight months of 2022 from a year ago to 118.4 million, according to data from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ).
Domestic flight price cap increased
The Transport and Infrastructure Ministry has announced that it has decided to increase the price cap for domestic flights.
Accordingly, the maximum fare for domestic flights soared from a previous 990 Turkish Liras to 1,150 liras.
In July, more than 8 million passengers traveled on domestic routes.

Some 5.8 million foreign tourists have visited Istanbul in the first nine months of the year, while in September alone the number of visitors leaped more than 100 percent on an annual basis.

Helicopter’s tail hits lighting pole in Istanbul
A gendarme helicopter's tail hit a lighting pole when it was trying to get into a parking position at an Istanbul airport on Dec. 31.
The accident took place at the Sabiha Gökçen Airport and police, fire brigades, and health professionals were dispatched to the scene following the accident.
There was no disruption in airport traffic due to the accident.

Turkey resumes int’l flights after ending almost three-month ban
Turkey restarted international flights on June 11 for the first time after an almost three-month ban imposed to stem the coronavirus pandemic.
As part of the new "normalization" phase, Ankara resumed domestic flights as of June 1, which have been followed by international flights.

Pilot in Istanbul airport crash arrested
Turkish authorities have arrested the captain of a plane that crashed earlier this month at an Istanbul airport killing three passengers, state-run Anadolu Agency said on Feb. 24.
