LMŠ announces no-confidence motions against environment, justice ministers
Ljubljana – The opposition Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) has drafted motions of no-confidence in the environment and justice ministers, Andrej Vizjak and Marjan Dikaučič, and has already shared them with fellow opposition deputy groups. The announcement comes a day after the SocDems (SD) announced a similar motion against the education minister.
MPs reject motion for referendum on Demographic Fund
Ljubljana – The National Assembly rejected in a 46:43 vote on Tuesday a proposal from the centre-left opposition for a consultative referendum on the government-sponsored bill on the national Demographic Fund.
The bill was adopted by the government last autumn and its passed a second reading in the National Assembly in March.
Parliament passes eight stimulus law worth EUR 320 million
Ljubljana – Parliament passed in the early hours of Wednesday the eighth economic stimulus law that is to deliver boosts, worth around EUR 320 million, to mitigate the impact of the epidemic. The key measures are state shouldering of the minimum wage rise, the extension of the furlough scheme and introduction of fines for vaccine queue-jumping.
SD announces motion to oust Culture Minister Simoniti
Ljubljana – Former Culture Minister Dejan Prešiček from the opposition Social Democrats (SD) announced on Friday that a motion to oust Culture Minister Vasko Simoniti would be filed before 8 February, Culture Day. He said this would probably be one of the biggest presents to Slovenian culture for the holiday.
Opposition files motion to oust labour minister
Ljubljana – Four opposition parties have filed a motion to oust Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Minister Janez Cigler Kralj over his work during the epidemic and the ministry’s decision to grant funds to an NGO with close links to the minister. They need 46 votes in the 90-member National Assembly to succeed.

Motion of no confidence in government temporarily withdrawn
Ljubljana – Pensioners’ Party (DeSUS) leader Karl Erjavec has withdrawn his bid to become PM-designate until all MPs are able to vote in person, after an opposition MP was confirmed to have the coronavirus and several others still waited for the results of their tests.
Renewed attempt in parliament to declare climate emergency
Ljubljana – The four centre-left opposition parties have filed a motion to declare an environmental and climate emergency after a similar attempt made in February failed to make it past the committee stage.
