With double-digit growth rates following the upward rhythms recorded in the rest of Europe, short-term rentals in our country are “running” this year, according to the most… official bull, that of the major market players, Airbnb, Booking, Expedia Group and TripAdvisor.

This year, 44% of Bulgarians will vacation abroad, with 92% of these trips occurring within Europe. Greece is the top destination for 40% of travelers, followed by Italy at 22% and Turkey at 20%. Germany ranks fourth with 13% of respondents planning to visit.

The bustling metropolis of Istanbul ranked third in the "Top 20 European Cities for Solo Travelers" list, which features destinations praised for their appeal to solo travelers.

The Greek island of Rhodes topped the list, which features destinations ranked on the basis of Hungarian-based airline company Wizz Air's traveler comments on popular travel platform Tripadvisor.

Sofia, Bulgaria, claims the third position in the ranking of the best European weekend destinations for the year 2024, according to Sofia Airport. This recognition is based on TripAdvisor reviews focusing on each European capital's nightlife and accommodation costs.

For the first time, citizens in Greece will be able to rate the quality of services provided by the state through an online evaluation system, according to an Interior Ministry for improving the efficiency of the civil service.
