Turkey to launch Turksat 5B communications satellite in Dec

Turkey will launch its Turksat 5B communications satellite into orbit next month, a senior official said on Nov. 24.

"One of the prominent features of Turksat 5B, which will be launched into an orbital slot at 42 degrees East, is to increase Turkey's Ka-band data communication capacity 15-fold," Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu said in a statement.

Major Turkish companies showcased their products on Sept. 8 at the world's biggest satellite conference.

Turkey's communications satellite operator TURKSAT, Turkish Aerospace Industries TUSAŞ, and PROFEN, which provides products and services communications and defense Technologies, attended the SATELLITE 2021 conference in the U.S. state of Maryland.

Turkish defense giant to use own software for meetings

Turkish defense giant Aselsan has developed its own video conferencing software for internal communications.

The software, called XperMeet, will meet the company's security needs with its end-to-end encipherment and SSL certificate.

XperMeet offers the ability to host meetings, training and organizing panels and webinars as well as voice calls and messaging.

Turkey's top court rejects complaint against post-coup arrest, setting precedent

Turkey's Constitutional Court rejected the first individual application related to the July 2016 coup attempt on June 20, ruling out the application of Aydın Yavuz, who was detained on the grounds of allegedly participating in events at satellite company TÜRKSAT on the night of the attempted coup.

Turkish official hopes overseas turnout in referendum

Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş on March 28 called for a high turnout of Turkish voters living abroad for the upcoming constitutional referendum.        

Speaking at an airport in Turkey's Ordu province on the Black Sea coast, he said overseas voters would "show their belonging to Turkey" by casting  their ballots.
