Italian authorities apprehended PKK terrorist Velat Çetinkaya in Rome, identified as one of the suspects in the deadly October attack in Turkish capital Ankara, according to reports in Turkish and Italian media.

A mayor from Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) was arrested late on Wednesday after prosecutors accused him of belonging to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), banned as a terrorist group in Turkey.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan convened a security meeting late on Oct. 24 in Istanbul after a terror attack in the capital Ankara killed five people and injured 22 others, security sources said. 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan condemned the deadly terrorist attack on the facilities of the aerospace and defense company TUSAŞ in Ankara on Oct. 23 during the BRICS meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Russia's Kazan province.

"We have four martyrs and 14 wounded. I condemn this heinous terrorist attack and wish mercy on our martyrs," Erdoğan said. 

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Oct. 23 an attack on the premises of the Turkish aerospace and defense company TUSAŞ left four dead and 14 injured.

Research teams have completed all stages of production of Türksat-6A, Türkiye's first domestically produced communication satellite, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır has announced.

Turkey's KAAN, its first national combat aircraft, completed its first flight on Wednesday, part of the country's efforts to upgrade its air force.

NATO member Turkey launched its TF-X project to produce a national combat aircraft in 2016. Turkish aerospace firm TUSAS signed a deal with Britain's BAE Systems worth $125 million in 2017 to develop the next-generation fighter jet.

Turkish defense companies signed agreements worth a total of $10.2 billion abroad last year, Haluk Görgün, the head of the Defense Industry Agency (SSB) has said.

The Turkish defense industry has exported 230 products to 185 countries over the past 10 years, Görgün told a conference organized at the southern province of Antalya.

A total of 41 Turkish defense companies will attend the fourth edition of the Azerbaijan International Defense Exhibition (ADEX), the region's largest event in the field of the defense industry and internal security.

The event will take place between Sept. 6 and 8 in the capital Baku.
A special section on a 2,800-square-meter area has been allocated to the "Turkish Pavilion."

A Turkish firm, supported by some other defense and technology firms, aims to deliver the first batch of domestically produced ventilators mid-April, said the country's industry and technology minister on April 3.
