The Boko Haram terrorist group has kidnapped more than 1,000 children in Nigeria since 2013, UNICEF said, quoted by CNN. On April 14, Nigerians commemorate the kidnapping of hundreds of pupils from Chibok. The case angered the public. Later, after the army intervened, hundreds of the girls were returned. However, jihadists continue this year with their attacks and assaults.

More than 200 children have been killed in war-battered Yemen this year, a United Nations official said on Aug. 7.

"In 2017, 201 children killed in Yemen: 152 boys and 49 girls,"  Meritxell Relano, UNICEF Resident Representative in Yemen, said on Twitter.

UNICEF plans to introduce several new projects to raise awareness and funds for children's rights globally and to mark the 25th anniversary of the Convention of the Rights of the Child.
