Bulgarian copper mining and processing company Assarel Medet has won the 2015 Investor of the Year award of the government's investment promotion agency, capital.bg has reported.

World-renowned climbing walls manufacturer Walltopia has announced that two equity funds, one from China and one from Bulgaria, have acquired a minority stake in the company.

These are BlackPeak Capital, a Bulgaria-based private equity fund, and the China-CEE Fund.

BlackPeak capital was set up under the EU's Joint European Resources for Micro to Medium Enterprises (JEREMIE).

Bulgaria has been given the thumbs up to spend BGN 83 M co-financed by the European Commission on the construction of Sofia Tech Park, officials say.

Tuesday's approval from the EU Commission's Directorate-General for Competition comes after the money had remained frozen for months.
