Turkey reportedly purchases fourth drillship

Turkish media on Tuesday were reporting the purchase of a fourth drillship by the government in Ankara.

According to the newspapers Sabah and Yeni Safak, the Turkish government has signed a deal for the acquisition of the deep water drillship Bolette Dolphin, which was built in South Korea 2014 and has been used by a Norwegian company until now.

Ankara’s ‘Blue Motherland’ exercise seen as warning to Cyprus, Greece

Ankara is launching on 27 February with a military exercise named "Blue Motherland" (Mavi Vatan) which has been described by Turkish media as a "war rehearsal" and which aims to send a clear message to Greece, Cyprus, Israel, and whoever else disputes Ankara's declared interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Erdogan ally says 'Cyprus is Turkish and will remain so'

The leader of Turkey's nationalist MHP opposition party Devlet Bahceli, an ally of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, attacked Greece and Cyprus during an election rally in Izmir on Sunday, claiming "Cyprus is Turkish."

Bahceli was commenting on Greek criticism over an MHP campaign video that depicts the island of Cyprus as Turkish territory.

Turkey's Erdogan to Stage Election Rally in Sarajevo

Turkish pro-government daily newspaper Yeni Safak reported that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his ruling Justice and Development Party, AKP, will organise a rally in Sarajevo on May 20.

The event is part of Erdogan's re-election campaign; he is running for the presidential office again as the country holds early general and presidential elections on June 24.

Yildirim digs at Tsipras over 8 Turkish servicemen, suggests link to case of Greek soldiers

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim on Monday reproached his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras for not mentioning the issue of the eight Turkish servicemen whose extradition Ankara has sought and appeared to link the case to that of two Greek soldiers being detained in Turkey.
