ZRENJANIN - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday a Linglong tyre factory in Zrenjanin, northeastern Serbia, was by far the largest-ever greenfield investment in the country and that 1,235 Serbian workers had been hired already in the first stage of the plant's operations.

Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, due to the consequences of rainfall, intervened in the territory of the City of Novi Sad, the municipality of Beoin, Sremski Karlovci, Zrenjanin, abac, Ruma and Valjevo.

One worker suffered more severe injuries and the other minor injuries. Both were immediately hospitalized.
The director of the Water Factory, Bojan Dimki, told the Beta agency that the inspection was on the ground and that an investigation was underway, and that he would soon provide more information.

This is the largest investment in Vojvodina worth more than EUR 800 million and that the whole Serbia will have huge profits from that factory, the president said, according to the Serbian government.

The company announced this, specifying that the stores are located in Belgrade, Bor, Zrenjanin, Kragujevac, Leskovac, Nis, Novi Sad, Smederevo, Sombor, Subotica, Uzice, and Sabac.

A press release said that more stores in other towns will be opening starting in November, and continue in subsequent months, as Lidl intends to grow its retail business in this country.

Several other important economic agreements, including an agreement on investment in Zrenjanin, worth nearly a billion US dollars, have also been signed, the Serbian government announces.

"I think we, Serbs, should be proud of things we do to improve the quality of life of the Croatian minority. " said Vucic to the press in Zrenjanin.

He said that in 20 days he would present all granted requests and everything that was done so that "Croatians in Serbia feel good and respect this country".

Two persons have been arrested on suspicion that they brought mercury (quicksilver) to Serbia, where they stored the chemical element with intent to sell it.

The Interior Ministry (MUP) made the announcement on Thursday.

Eight polling stations opened on Tuesday morning in Kraljevo, Vrsac, Vrbas, Topola, Zrenjanin, Backa Palanka, and Belgrade's Zvezdara municipality.

A total of 9,851 voters are eligible to vote in the repeat elections on Tuesday.

BELGRADE - The Serbian national election commission (RIK) on Wednesday ordered repeat presidential elections at eight polling stations where it had annulled the voting.

The repeat elections are scheduled to take place on April 11 at polling stations in Kraljevo, Pancevo, Vrsac, Vrbas, Topola, Zrenjanin, Backa Palanka and the Belgrade municipality of Zvezdara.
