The Greek national soccer team suffered another evening of shame at the hands of the Faroe Islands, losing this time 2-1 away, seven months after its 1-0 loss at home in November. These results have now sealed Greece?s elimination from the finals of Euro 2016.

Greek federation backs injured Holebas

The Greek soccer federation on Friday insisted that international defender Jose Holebas had been dropped from team training in Austria because of injury and not for any other reason.

Media reports out of Italy said that the 30-year-old player had trained normally with his Roma squad after departing from Austria on Tuesday.

BELGRADE - The Nordic model of cooperation is achievable in the Balkans under the umbrella of the European Union, says former Norwegian minister and diplomat Thorvald Stoltenberg.

Under-21 manager Tsanas to coach Greece vs Serbia

Greece named youth coach Costas Tsanas as interim coach of the senior national team on Sunday but there was no official confirmation yet of the sacking of Italian Claudio Ranieri.

The country's soccer federation (EPO) has effectively suspended Ranieri for the time being as both sides work out the financial settlement surrounding his 1.6 million-euro contract.
