BELGRADE - Serbian FM Ivica Dacic said on Wednesday an urgent UNSC session on Kosovo-Metohija, scheduled for Thursday, would be one of the most significant political events at this time and an opportunity for Serbia's arguments to be heard.

Serbia will be represented by President Aleksandar Vucic.

BELGRADE - Serbian FM Ivica Dacic said on Wednesday he had received a message from the FM of Guyana, which presides over the UNSC, that the UN body would hold an open session on Kosovo-Metohija on Thursday evening CET.

He pointed out that Serbia will be represented by President Aleksandar Vui. In these two days, we witnessed intense behind-the-scenes games and pressures within the Security Council for the Guyana presidency to schedule a closed session, says Dacic.

Whether the session will be open or closed to the public remains to be seen.

ROME - Serbian First Deputy PM and FM Ivica Dacic said on Monday Serbia's request for an urgent UNSC session was due to the overall situation in Kosovo-Metohija, the terror against Serbs, an attempt to ban the Serbian dinar and violations of UNSCR 1244 and all other international documents related to Kosovo-Metohija.

NEW YORK - Serbia's Ambassador to the UN Nemanja Stevanovic submitted on Monday a request by the Republic of Serbia to call an extraordinary UNSC session over the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.

Stevanovic submitted the request to the political adviser of the Guyanese mission to the UN.

Guyana is presiding over the UNSC.

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Friday Belgrade would request an urgent UNSC session over the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.

In a public address from the Palace of Serbia, Vucic said Serbia's representative to the UN would submit a written request on Monday.

A British warship arrived off the coast of Guyana on Friday, further fueling tensions over a territorial dispute with Venezuela, which has launched a major military exercise in response to what it termed an "unacceptable" threat.

The new phase came after Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro ordered the deployment of the military near the borders, both on land and at sea.

The presidents of Venezuela and Guyana pledged after direct talks on Thursday not to resort to force to settle a long-simmering — and recently reheated — territorial dispute over the oil-rich Essequibo region, a joint statement said.
