The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) officially starts functioning on January 1.
The EEU unites Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan.
The new economic union envisages free flow of capital, goods services, and workforce on a common market including over 170 million people, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio.

Nations of Turkic world meet in Baku
A number of Turkish-speaking countries came together to discuss how to strengthen cooperation in education at the 5th Turkish National Commission for UNESCO meeting in Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, on Dec. 18.

Latvia Votes in Parliamentary Elections
A total of 953 polling stations in Latvia, and 98 stations in 41 other countries have opened on Saturday for the country's parliamentary elections.
The Central Elections Commission will publish the initial results shortly after midnight. Final results are expected to be announced by Sunday, Itar-Tass reports.
