Dutch passenger dies after suffering diabetic coma on Istanbul flight

A Dutch citizen died early on Aug. 17 after suffering from a diabetic coma during a Turkish Airlines flight from Port Louis to Istanbul.

Ramduelarie Ramavadh, 68, had boarded a Turkish Airlines flight from the capital of Mauritius to Istanbul, in order to connect to a flight to Amsterdam.

A research team from the University of South Africa, led by professor Lewis Ashwal has discovered a new continent! The team, which published their findings in a scientific paper in the journal of Nature Communications, discovered pieces of a lost continent they called “Mauritia” in the Indian Ocean under the island of Mauritius.

Thomas Cook doubles “fam trips” in 2017, with Santorini on list

Thomas Cook says it will double the number of agent “fam trips” for its independent partners this year.

The fam trips-abbreviated vesion of familiarisation trips- will include long haul destinations Florida and Mauritius, as well as Croatia, Turkey, Majorca, Tenerife, Santorini and Cape Verde.

Two Greek hotels were voted among the top 25 under the “all inclusive” category in TripAdvisor’s annual “2016 Travelers Choice.” Ikos Olivia and Oceania, which belong to the Ikos Resorts chain in Chalkidiki, Macedonia, took 2nd and 6th spot, respectively. The first spot was taken by hotel Excellence Playa Mujeres in Mexico, with Tamasa hotel in Mauritius coming in 3rd.

Air France bomb hoax caused emergency landing and evacuation

An Air France Boeing 777 en route from Mauritius to Paris was evacuated at Mombasa airport, Kenya, after a suspicious device was found in the plane’s toilets. Air France Chief Frederic Gagey said the fake bomb device was a cardboard box, paper and a timer and described the fake bomb placement as an “extremely aggressive act”.
