Watery Wilderness to Adorn Romania’s Capital
Bucharest city council has approved plans to turn a natural delta in the south of the capital into a nature park and a recreational area.
The park, known as the “Delta between the blocks”, covers around 200 hectares, including some 80 hectares of water, in the middle of Bucharest.

Bulgaria Last in EU in Salaries, Work Productivity
Bulgarians earn nearly EUR 4 per hour, nearly ten times less than what Swedes and Danes get at work, Eurostat data has shown.
The country lags behind its northern neighbor Romania, where medium hourly wages are a little over EUR 4, according to the statistics cited by Dariknews.bg.

The city of Varna, also known as Bulgaria's sea capital, is for the second time host to the SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta, a renowned maritime contest which started April 30.
Germany’s Draexlmaier Opens New Factory in Romania
German car parts maker Draexlmaier is to open a new factory in Pitesti, in southern Romania, where it will manufacture components and wiring.
Some 500 people will be hired, adding to the existing some 14,000 people who already work for Draexlmaier in its five Romanian factories, the company said on Tuesday.

Jittery Romania Raises 2014 Defence Budget
Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Monday said the government will raise the defence budget by 700 million lei (some 156 million euro), from current 6.4 billion lei, in order to upgrade military capabilities.

EU Grants Visa-Free Travel to Moldovans
Moldova on Monday became the first country east of the EU whose citizens have the right to visa-free travel to the 26 European countries that comprise the Schengen area.
Moldova won the approval of the EU for the change after undertaking a series of reforms, including providing secure travel documents and improving border and migration management.

In March 2014, the number of trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 313.4 thousand or by 1.5% above the registered in March 2013.
