Two migrant accommodation centers in Albania are set to receive asylum seekers from Italy.

Italy: Nearly 300 migrants arrived in Lampedusa overnight
A total of 296 migrants and refugees arrived on the island of Lampedusa last night.
Meanwhile, during the previous day, 487 people arrived on this small island south of Sicily.
Janissary weapons discovered in Ottoman shipwreck
New historical artifacts have been unearthed during the excavation of the Kızlan Ottoman Shipwreck off the coast of Datça in the western province of Muğla.
The discoveries, believed to belong to the Ottoman Empire, shed light on the ship's identity and the era in which it sank.

Frontex: 39% increase in illegal immigrant flows to Greece in 2024
The European Border and Coast Guard Agency, Frontex, reports an increase in illegal migration flows from Turkey to the Greek islands during the first eight months of 2024, with 37,163 people crossing the borders illegally.
4 arrested after Turkish flag mistakenly hoisted at Tunisian gov’t building
Four Tunisians have been arrested after Türkiye's flag, which closely resembles but is not identical to Tunisia's, was mistakenly raised on a government building, local media reported on Sept. 11.
Footage circulated online in recent days showed the Turkish flag flying over the Tunis headquarters of the national railway company SNCFT, prompting a formal apology and arrests.

New heatwave, more dust on its way next week
Temperatures are set to soar again next week across the country with meteorologists even forecasting up to 43-44 degrees Celsius in heat-sensitive plains.
According to the National Meteorological Service (EMY), temperatures will begin to climb at the weekend between 34C and 36C in mainland areas, with a further rise from Tuesday.

Iran's Raisi to be laid to rest in home town
Thousands marched in Iran on Thursday on the final day of funeral rites for president Ebrahim Raisi, who will be laid to rest in his hometown days after dying in a helicopter crash.
Raisi, 63, died on Sunday alongside his foreign minister and six others when their helicopter crashed in the country's mountainous northwest while returning from a dam inauguration.
