Exports climb to $22 billion in May
Türkiye's exports rose 14.4 percent from a year ago to $21.7 billion in May, after plunging 17 percent annually in the previous month, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) have shown.
Imports, which declined nearly 5 percent in April, increased by 15.5 percent last month to stand at $34.2 billion.

EU approves 11th sanctions package against Russia over Ukraine
European Union governments agreed on Wednesday to an 11th package of sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine, aimed at stopping other countries and companies from circumventing existing measures.
The new package, tweeted by Sweden as EU president, forbids transit via Russia of an expanded list of goods and technology which might aid Russia's military or security sector.
VP Yılmaz, Finance Minister Şimşek visit UAE
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek have traveled to the United Arab Emirates for a one-day working visit.
The duo will hold a series of meetings and will meet with President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss cooperation opportunities between the two countries, said the Turkish Presidency's Communications Directorate.

Tanjug signs contract with UAE's WAM news agency
BELGRADE - The Serbian Tanjug News Agency and the UAE's WAM news agency signed a contract on inter-agency cooperation on Monday.
It was signed by Tacno Director Manja Grcic and WAM Director Mohammad Jalal Al Rayssi during a Zoom session.
Tacno is the holder of Tanjug trademarks.

Erdoğan to embark on 1st foreign visits to Turkish Cyprus, Azerbaijan
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set to embark on his first foreign visits following his reelection in the May 28 polls to Turkish Cyprus and Azerbaijan, in a bid to discuss bilateral ties and steps to improve cooperation.
In his first visit on June 12, Erdoğan will meet with Turkish Cypriot President Ersin Tatar and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.
COP28 chief says reduction of fossil fuel use 'inevitable'
The head of the upcoming COP28 climate summit, who also is the chief executive of the UAE's national oil company, has acknowledged that a reduction in the use of fossil fuels is inescapable.
"The phase down of fossil fuels is inevitable," Sultan al-Jaber said on the sidelines of technical climate talks on June 8 six months ahead of the summit.
Vucic speaks with UAE president
BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic spoke by phone with the president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Friday.
The discussion topics included the upcoming COP28 summit on climate change, further strengthening of comprehensive cooperation and the current regional and global political situation.
