Deferred May Day to affect services, shops
Business will not be resuming quite as usual on Tuesday after the long Easter break, as the May Day holiday was deferred by a week in observance of Good Wednesday.
The measure will mostly affect state services, which will not be working today, but also banks and the Athens Stock Exchange.

Majority of detainees released after May Day rallies
Authorities have released 182 out of 217 people detained in Istanbul after tensions erupted between police and demonstrators during May Day rallies, security sources have said.
The remaining 35 people were referred to the courthouse for potential arrest, the sources said on May 2.
May Day to affect public transport (updated)
The Athens metro will operate from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on May Day, due to the decision of transport workers to participate in a strike, its operator STASY has said.
Buses and the tram in the capital will begin servicing routes from 9 a.m. but will return to depots by 9 p.m.

Trade unionists urge participation in May Day rallies
The country's largest trade union federation has called for mass participation in May Day rallies on Monday across the country.
The General Confederation of Workers in Greece (GSEE), which represents private-sector workers, said it would assemble at 11 a.m. at Klathmonos Square in central Athens.

Slovenian spa resorts harbour much optimism ahead of the May Day holidays, saying that bookings so far are promising and that more are expected just before the holidays. Most of the guests will be from Slovenia, but the number of foreign visitors has been increasing this year.
