The French satirical weekly magazine "Charlie Hebdo," against which a terrorist attack was made in January 2015, announced that they had filed a complaint about death threats in social networks after publishing a cartoon of a Swiss Islamist accused of rape, reports mediapool. 

An Istanbul prosecutor demanded on July 18 up to 11 years in jail for a man who attacked a woman "for wearing shorts" on a bus over charges of "inciting people to hatred and hostility," "sexual assault with molestation," and "restraining the rights of freedom, belief and thought."   

Breaking with tradition, the White House under President Donald Trump did not host an iftar dinner, the meal Muslims eat to break their daily fast during Ramadan.

An Istanbul court on June 22 ordered the arrest of a man who is facing charges of attacking a 21-year-old woman "for wearing shorts" on a bus, Doğan News Agency has reported. The arrest follows his earlier release from detention pending investigation.

Turkey will deliver 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza just before the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced late on June 19.        

"Turkey with its people and institutions will continue to support the Palestinian state and people," said the ministry in a statement. 

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) stepped up its food aid to needy Turks, Tatars and Romanian Muslims over the weekend, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on June 18.  

Five hundred packages of Ramadan food were distributed to low-income families in small towns and villages in the Dobruja region of the country.

A van ploughed into worshippers leaving a London mosque on June 19, killing at least one person and injuring 10 others in what witnesses said was a deliberate attack on Muslims.
   

Turkey will never allow another coup attempt to happen again, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan vowed on May 27, speaking at the first iftar fast-breaking meal of Ramadan, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Muslims in Turkey are set to begin fasting on May 27 for the holy month of Ramadan, when most of the world's 1.5 billion Muslims abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset.
