Apostolos Christou wins silver medal in men’s 200m backstroke

Greek swimmer Apostolos Christou won the silver medal in the men's 200m backstroke final on Thursday.

Christou finished in second place with a time of 1:54.82, setting a new national record. He trailed Hungarian swimmer Hubert Kos, who won gold with a time of 1:54.26, and finished ahead of Swiss competitor Roman Mityukov, who clocked 1:54.85.

Second medal for Greece at the Olympic Games, as Apostolos Christou took second place in the 200m backstroke final in Paris with a time of 1:54.82.

“I gave it my all because I knew I had to surpass myself. I really wanted it and found the strength to perform an incredible race,” emphasized Apostolos Christou after his great success.

Men’s water polo team beats Americans to reach quarter finals

Greece's men's water polo team secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics by defeating the USA 13-11, marking their third consecutive win in Group A.

The Greek team now face two important matches, starting with the one against world champions Croatia on Saturday (at 13.05 French time), followed by Italy on August 5.

Judoka Thodoris Tselidis wins Greece’s first medal at Paris Olympics

Thodoris Tselidis won the bronze medal in the men's -90kg weight class on Wednesday, Greece's first medal at the Paris Olympics.

The 27-year-old Greek judoka defeated Tristani Mosakhlishvili of Spain in the fight for third place.

Tselidis started strong, taking an early 1-0 lead that he maintained throughout the match.

Patra to host major Olympic memorabilia exhibition featuring 10,000 artifacts

Some 10,000 original pieces from a private collection of Olympic Games memorabilia are going on display in the western port city of Patra on Monday, in a show running until August 3 at City Hall.

The exhibits have been donated by Pantelis Kotzanoulis, who is believed to have the biggest collection of its kind in Greece, with more than 30,000 pieces.
