Refugees seek new routes as Hungary seals border
As Hungary threw up the barriers to stop thousands of refugees trekking over its border from Serbia and into the European Union, undeterred migrants on the roads simply began to think of other routes to take.
The Hungarian decision might relieve pressure on itself, but also meant that new countries on the migrants' maps would be drawn into the crisis.
Hundreds of Migrants 'Walking toward Bulgaria'
Some 800 migrants headed from Istanbul in Turkey to Edirne, a city to the northwest, as they are trying to cross into Bulgaria and thus reach the EU, media sources say.
According to a Turkey correspondent for the Bulgarian National Radio, they were trying to reach Bulgaria or Greece's borders by bus and give either border a try.
Hungary Plan to Extend Border Fence Worries Romania
After reports said that Hungary will soon start preparatory work to extend the border fence along its Serbian frontier eastwards towards Romania, the Romanian Foreign Ministry criticised the development.
"A fence between two EU member states that are also strategic partners is neither politically correct, nor in line with the European spirit," the ministry said on Tuesday.
FM: Sending migrants back to Serbia is unacceptable
Ivica Dacic says Serbia finds it "unacceptable" that Hungary would send migrants back while more and more are arriving from Macedonia and Greece.
AP quoted the foreign minister as saying: "Serbia is not a collective center - we want to be part of the solution, not collateral damage. There will have to be talks in the coming days with Brussels and other countries."
Macedonia Parties Clinch Deal on Special Prosecutor
After marathon talks, Macedonia's political parties have agreed on the appointment of a special prosecutor who will be tasked with investigating the illegal surveillance claims that have rocked the government.
"A deal was reached. We have a prosecutor," Antonio Milososki, from the negotiating team of the ruling VMRO DPMNE party, tweeted on Tuesday morning.

Balkan States Told to Take in More Refugees
Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, on Wednesday proposed a new plan for accepting 160,000 refugees in the EU and at the same time proposed that non-EU countries in the Western Balkans be put on a list of safe countries.
The proposition presented to the European Parliament adds another 40,000 to an existing plan for quotas set in May.
