Turkish film wins best picture at prominent festival in US
"Flaşbellek" (Flash Drive), a film directed and written by Turkish Cypriot filmmaker Derviş Zaim, has won the best picture award at the New York Independent Cinema Awards in the United States.

Well-known actors of Arab cinema, such as Salah Bakri, Ali Suleiman, Sara El Debuch and Husam Chadat, took part in the production, which tells about the Syrian war.
Turkish actor becomes goalkeeper in Netherlands
Famous Turkish actor Erkan Kolçak Köstengil has become a professional goalkeeper in the Netherlands after leaving Turkey as the well-known TV series, Çukur (The Hole), in which he acted, ended.

"It was my childhood dream to be a goalkeeper," Köstengil said.
Çukur, which first aired on Oct. 23, 2017, ended on June 7 after 131 episodes in four seasons.
Veteran theater actor Ferhan Şensoy dies at 70
Ferhan Şensoy, one of Turkey's best-known theater and cinema actors, has died. He was 70. He had been receiving treatment at Istanbul University Medical Faculty for a while. Şensoy, who was hospitalized on July 2 due to internal bleeding, died at around 2.30 a.m. on Aug. 31 due to cardiovascular diseases and respiratory failure.

Golden Boll Film Festival to be held in September
Turkey's International Golden Boll Film Festival will be held in the southern Adana province on Sept. 13-19, organizers said on Aug. 24.
