Ellinikon hotspot refugees go on strike
More than 1,000 refugees housed at the Ellinikon hotspot, in the area of Vouliagmeni, went on a hunger strike, Monday, protesting against the atrocious living conditions at the centre. According to a statement released by a solidarity group called ‘Movement against racism and the threat of fascism’, refugees living in UNHR tents started a hunger strike over the disgusting food and water at the centre. The group said the centre lacked the necessary health provisions with few doctors or medical infrastructure, while it continued by saying that the hotpost had essentially been turned into an informal detention centre,
Centre turned into apartheid, says solidarity group
it to an ‘apartheid’ area.
