International harp festival to be held June 14 to 22

BELGRADE - The 13th international harp festival will be held from June 14 to 22 and in the course of the nine festival days, eight concerts will he staged at six different locations, the Serbian Harp Association announced.

The festival will open in the Kolarac Endowment on Saturday, June 14, by performances of solo harpists Alexandra Mullins of the U.S. and Remy van Kesteren of the Netherlands, accompanied by the Radio Television of Serbia Symphony Orchestra with Ivan Markovic as the director.

The festival programme will feature pieces of Serbian authors, including Dusan Radic, Vladimir Tosic, Svetislav Bozic, Srdjan Hofman, Vladimir Trmcic, Marko Aleksic and Ljubomir Nikolic.

At the closing of the festival, the world-famous harpist Marielle Nordmann of France will deliver a performance in the Kolarac Endowment, while the second half of the concert will offer a chance for the Belgrade public to hear for the first time the orchestra comprising 30 harpists.

The programme will include pieces by Svetislav Bozic, young composer Marko Aleksic, and Ljubomir Nikolic, with Mirjana Jovicic as the director.

The concerts during the harp festival will be held in the Belgrade Youth Centre, Ethnographic Museum, Student Cultural Centre Belgrade, the Gallery of the Kolarac Endowment and the Gallery of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
