Serbia to get 6 MiG-29s, 30 T72S tanks, 30 BRDM-2 vehicles from Russia

MOSCOW - As a token of support, Russia will give Serbia six MiG-29 planes as a gift, and the first stage of upgrading them will cost us 180-230 mln euros, PM Aleksandar Vucic said after a meeting with Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu Wednesday, Sputnik reported.

If you calculate the costs of buying such planes, you will see they would cost us around 600 mln euros, he said.

This will dramatically improve the Serbian Armed Forces' capabilities - to an extent that they will be like a different army from now on, he said.

We also got 30 T72S tanks, 30 BRDM-2 combat reconnaissance/patrol vehicles and 14.5 mm cannons as a gift, Vucic said.

We enhanced our very good friendly relations and we will make joint three- and five-year cooperation plans, he said.
