Soldier killed in clashes with PKK militants in Tunceli

One soldier was killed on Dec. 28 during clashes with outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the eastern province of Tunceli, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Soldiers engaged in an armed conflict with the militants while conducting searches in rural areas of the province.

One specialized sergeant was initially wounded in clashes with the militants. However, he later succumbed to his injuries in Tunceli State Hospital.

Two PKK militants were also killed in the operation, the agency said.

Security forces are continuing operations in the region despite bad weather conditions.
