Izetbegovic: Nikolic should reconsider visit to Banjaluka

SARAJEVO - The Bosniak member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency, Bakir Izetbegovic, on Wednesday urged Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic to reconsider his visit to Banjaluka for the January 9 Republika Srpska Day celebrations.

"Nikolic should visit Sarajevo in February. As regards his coming to Banjaluka, I would like to ask him publicly to think about that matter. He is always welcome, but for the sake of better relations... he should think about the facts," Izetbegovic told the Sarajevo N1 TV.

The BiH Constitutional Court has abolished January 9 as a holiday, he said.

"It was established it is a discriminatory holiday. No one has anything against Republika Srpska or it celebrating the day of its establishment, but it should not be a day that offends other people in that entity," Izetbegovic said.
