Code Orange alert of rains in place for six counties, Code Yellow for nine

The National Weather Forecaster on Monday extended a Code Orange alert of rains for six counties in southern and southwestern Romania - Gorj, Mehedinti, Dolj, Valcea, Olt and Arges.

According to the National Meteorology Administration, there will be heavy rains in the above-mentioned counties starting Monday afternoon till the early hours of Monday night; there will be 50 — 70 liters of rain per square meter and even more than 80 liters per square meter in spots.

The Code Orange alert of rains is in place from 3 p.m. on Monday till 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

The western counties of Arad, Timis, Caras — Severin, Hunedoara, Alba, central Sibiu and Brasov and southern Dambovita and Teleorman will have a Code Orange alert of rains in place for 24 hours.

According to the Forecaster, the weather will be unsettled from 10 a.m. on Monday till 10 a.m. on Tuesday, particularly in the western half of Romania as well as in the mountainous area.

There will be heavy rains, thunder and storms in the regions of Oltenia, Banat, southern Crisana, southwestern Transylvania and western Muntenia. Downpours will exceed 25 — 30 liters per square meter and even 50 liters per square meter in spots and hail will fall.AGERPRES
