President Iohannis underscores European path represents only viable way for R. of Moldova's future
"The European path represents the only viable way for the future of the Republic of Moldova," President Klaus Iohannis stated on Wednesday upon welcoming at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova Iurie Leanca, informs a press release of the Presidential Administration sent to AGERPRES.
The two high dignitaries approached topical issues on the cooperation agenda of the Strategic Partnership for European integration of the Republic of Moldova, with an emphasis on the reform process and the relevant action priorities relevant with regard to the implementation of the provisions of the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union. Moreover, they discussed the accomplishment perspectives of bilateral interconnection projects between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, and the impact the developments in Chisinau generate on the reform agenda, respectively.
President Klaus Iohannis underscored Romania's constant and consistent support and his own personal support for the Republic of Moldova's integration agenda and at the same time, the importance of implementing the reforms assumed through the Association Agreement with the European Union, reads the release.
The two officials discussed about the importance of speeding up the reform process, with an emphasis on Justice and fighting corruption, and about the need of an internally unified effort on behalf of all the actors who uphold the meeting of the Republic of Moldova's European integration objective, respectively, and also tackled the energy projects' issue, which aim to physically connect the Republic of Moldova, through Romania, to the European energy space, in compliance with this country's objectives of economic integration in the EU.
In his turn, Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca thanked for Romania's support regarding the Republic of Moldova's European path towards integration, materialised, among other things, alongside the political and financial dimension, with a direct impact on the improvement of the Moldovan citizens' standard of living as well as for the firm backing of the Republic of Moldova's European objectives with the European institutions and the EU member states.
As for the relations between Chisinau and Bucharest, the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova voiced his interest for the prospect of applying the action directions developed by the "20 results for 2020" Action Plan, adopted on the occasion of the Eastern Partnership Summit organised in Brussels, on 24 November 2017, likely to generate results to the direct benefit of the citizens.AGERPRES(RO - author: Florentina Peia, editor: Georgiana Tanasescu; EN - author: Simona Iacob, editor: Maria Voican)
